my department, no identification here... even though classes we belong are different, I know almost all the names. but wondering how long I would keep remembering. I have to turn the pages in my slam book to know these friends.

there stands at last row(over bench) 4th from right the beacon of hope, intelligence, compassion and all good things, you guessed it right.... It's none other than Me - Karthikeyan Ramchel.

You can notice, when everybody else in my class sporting in casual dress, I was the only one wearing the bullet proof jacket(uniform, but its just more opt to call jacket - credits to its all weather four year survival rate without even a pin hole opening) provided by college(point here: not for free. we paid for it)... I think I was sick the day before this photo shoot and it was informed to all that tomorrow they have group photo shoot.. The next day except me everyone else has got their casual wear on their back even though we had practical classes(by the way why in the hell we were made to wear that bullet proof jacket to sit before computers and do programs??? probably I guess decision making people there wrongly understood computer virus as deadly human infectious killer and can stop spreading to people by wearing 5in thick uniforms.. hmmm... I still see my college fellows wears uniforms, no awareness till this point)... I would have stood more handsomely had I known this photo shoot early with my designer made clothes(yes made by tailor at EMAR jowli store, main road, kovilpatti ;) )...

Uma maheswari madam(4th from right, first row), I always remember your satellite communication class mdm, and especially for an one particular assignment you put mark 10 out of 10 for me.. still grateful for it ;)

Durai kannan sir(1st from left, first row), oops cannot forget your discrete mathematics classes and my feat of memorizing all those shit 100+ algorithms of one particular chapter... still I'm far away from repeating that success for my current studies in MS

Deepalakshmi madam(6th from left, second row), hard to forget name, right from second year first day to fourth year last day... complete three years you have fought with us... big thanks for making our days at college - even under those emergency era(not Indira Gandhi's 1972 but ours 2000-2004) - an ever remembering days... no equals for you...

apologies sir(6th from left, third row), I forgot your name, but I always remember your first year Mechanical classes esp. the different type of boilers chapter... this topic has immensely helped our guys to categorize girls into most deserving one(no offense meant, just for fun) and also the time traveled together in college bus... who can forget 2 hours daily bumpy ride through village roads for 4 years.. probably that has made the backbone stronger to beat the heat of software engineering job blows...

sincere apologies sir(3rd from left, third row), I forgot your name, I always remember your Engineering Drawing(special thanks to my colleague Kousalya for helping me in recalling this subject name, sorry sir the subject name just like the subject content is very hard to remember all this years) classes.. your dedication/commitment/spirit of teaching still lingers in my mind... I wish I should take a leaf or two from your life to follow...

apologies madam(3rd from right, first row), I forgot your name, I should never have forgot your name but unfortunately due to heavy usage of help documents, user manuals, bug reports, hard appraisals and hardly coming increments, peer diplomacy, electronic gadgets etc..etc.. has put the recalling sub-routines of my brain to ever unused state by concentrating only current affairs... I always remember your OOAD classes, which I guess you took up this as your specialization because of its plain text format almost right from first to last page without any complications... I still remember your house visit along with Dhanasekar. I guess you must have made good fortune by completing whole semester by just handwritten cramped paper notes taken from library books and not spending money to buy books...

apologies madam(4th from left, second row), I forgot your name, who can forget your software engineering classes mdm. you should stand proud for seeding those initial details of desert software engineering subject in all our minds which has brought all of your students to this state... I hope/wish you have good times at gulf state - that was the last place we know you settled after marriage...

hosimin siva sir(5th from left, third row), unforgettable personality. it doesn't matter whether you get plastic replica at Madame Tussaud or other places.. but you have cemented yourself in all your students hearts.... Hope/Wish you having good times at your IT career now... I always remember your C classes and practicals... Special thanks for letting us(I'm not sure whether you know it) play Age of Empires/Warcraft multi-player games in collage practical lab... Amazing experience... Till now haven't got that chance like that again...

Software Industry Status - After Women's Emergence

It's been sometime since I wrote things other than me in this blog. Here is the one which is nothing to do with me(happy enemies??? you people had long gunning for this).

Okay now to the point....

My current sleep spoiler is - speedy project development to deliver quickly, no matter what hell happens anywhere/any form the quality should be top notch etc... etc... Why this all??? What are we losing/gaining by this way? many questions... no answers... to answer this, to analyze this, I was forced to turn on my deep reserve internal thought process engine. It has worked amazingly well and came with findings with equally amazing facts. The key to all issues are just one object(one object but unfortunately with multiple instances) 'Women'. Continued.

What are the impacts of women in Software Industry post their emergence in lead roles? I have been thinking a while(really brainstormed hard, you understand it while reading further) about this to understand why there is so much mad rush of delivering projects, unrealistic schedules, introducing "brand-new-world's-first" features which only testers use(developers seldom revisit the features, they are so scared that they happen to see bugs the moment they touch the feature. so close the application, be happy. god help users.).

Women was there in software industry for long time but those participation must have been limited to beautifying code(i.e. make up code... which they are excellent at - no arguments over this), cleaning up code repository before/after project start/end, and not but least organizing coffee/tea/snacks for team meetings etc... When their predominant job is such and such, there was no problems in the early days of software industry.
Proof to that point is look at the number of years people took to release patches/new products etc during the mid 19'th century. Men who worked at that time must have been enjoying life - done relaxed development, released projects as and when everybody is done with their work. That's correct model which closely matches with the human evolution history. Do things slowly, steadily, gradually. This is how it should be... It took so many million years for bunch of monkeys to become Men and Women(I still wonder whether there is still some kind of progress left for the later. God knows.).

Okay now you see the state of software industry. Men in their mid 20's and 30's lost their hair, nearly 50% Men would have been virtually branded as blind if there had been no eye power correction glasses/laser correction, Men who otherwise does social activities for the betterment of human race is thinking about what to cook for wife/mom/daughter etc... All this should be attributed to the rise of that One Object to the leading positions in software industry.

Now people(irrespective of Man/Woman) started talking about delivery.. delivery.. delivery...(now you know why this terminology which was once originally used for sacred purpose now used very frequently in software industry?? Isn't because of that one object??).
They talk about on-time delivery(again see here its 'on time delivery', they expect software to be delivered just like that irrespective of what hell happens anywhere/any-form, deliver in 10 months. Post the improvements in medical field like cesarean, has made them to think that software should also be delivered quickly using close-to-cesarean-concepts like RAD[rapid application development], Incremental Development, etc... you see the whole problem??? because of that one object????).

If we keep on delivering things very quickly in contrast to human evolution history?? What's in store for future generation??

When C language was introduced, every kid from every corner started learning it(it happened even in my native Kovilpatti where computers was originally considered as replacement for television sets. those days televisions were all black/huge/non-digital etc.., so we thought this sleek/white/shiny/digital computer would enhance the TV watching experience. may be the one reason behind this is that crap DD 'vialum-volvum' program which never showed any colors even in color TVs.. always black sand, always white dhoti clad men.. just this black & white even in color TV sets).

Okay then after C when C++ was made popular just in short time, the same story, people ran behind whoever talks about computer(even if its computer peripheral salespeople), in hope that that person would be conducting courses in computer centers and can secure admission to 'Learn C, C++ in 10 Days'.

Then comes JAVA in no time, the same people rushed to study this too. When this same set of people study all this truly interesting language in record time, what would be left for future generations?? What job they have to invent/improve??

Imagine if our ancestor tribe uncle's have invented all items right from wooden wheels to Boeing aircraft wheels in their time itself, what would have been left for us to do now and earn?? Our tribe uncle's were intelligent(mainly because Women were running behind things which they should be and not about things that matter). They done things in their own pace. They developed few. Used it for their lifetime. Left the improvement to their future generations. Their future generations too followed the same principle. They developed some sort of bullock carts with wooden wheels and stopped there(they could have made Volvo's that time itself. Think if they could convince a Bull - just an animal - to run their vehicle, can't they make an engine which does what it's programmed for???).

But we because of that one object started to push things so fast so that, now people scared about global warming/emission/pollution/commission again advocating fellow people to use bicycle/just walk. Things are getting back to history. But software industry, not listening to any of this outrages, keeps on marching ahead. Deliver. Deliver. Deliver.

Where it will take us all??? What more Men has to lose? Where is the Change We Believe? Barack Obama does it successfully by stopping Hillary Clinton. What about other Men?? When can we develop things based on our ancestors principle rather than 'Rapid Application Development'? When can we get opportunity to enjoy Diwali for many weeks instead of 1 or 2 days???

Rameshwaram Trip - Year '09

Its a second visit to Rameshwaram in two years. Though I'm kind of person who argues existence of God and myths crafted over the so called powers wielded by God, I joined my family to visit this one of the holiest peace of land in Hinduism - for the sake of having a good family moment - rather than the blessing of God - here in our case 'Lord' Siva.

Got to visit Rameshwaram. Though I dont believe in God, I have love for the temple architecture and one reason definitely my Dad who used to do lots of this temple construction design stuff at home for many many years.. some 15years of memory..

my dad worked as Engineer with TN govt's HR&CE dept for almost 2 decade and I had so many of visits to all major temples in South Tamilnadu...

And Rameshwaram was one of his duty point among others.. been there to temple with Dad and visiting the place again without Dad has so much world of difference... pay here and there.. stand in queue... wait for this and that.. hmmm... gone are the days....

Actor Kamalhasan's New Film Shooting @ my Office

Journo's finds its tough to click a pic of high profile actors at their film shooting with new look. But for us who are working in TIDEL software park has become common scene passing by the shootings. But this one is definitely not a one to just pass by. Its Kamalhasan who came to shoot for his up coming flick. I'm not aware of any film details as Im not a big fan of Tamil films but still has some love left for actors like Kamal.

Here is the pic of Kamal in his new look for his new film right infront of my office. With heavy private security guards taking pic is risky. But one of my friend got away with neat pic of Kamal.

@ Chennai Spencer's Shopping Mall

After long years(some 6 years) I get to visit Spencer's Shopping Mall, Mount Road, Chennai, thanks to Super Supra(my friend Subramania Siva's nick). After having a stupendous meal at Srinivasa Andhra Mess, Sydoji Lane, Triplicane we went straight into one of the Chennai's largest Air conditioned shopping mall Spencer's. The Spencer's stood for its fame of colorful, joy full shopping experience.

I last visited Spencer's when I was in Chennai in 2003/04 for my B.E academic project. That time I was visiting with Dhana & Sathish.

the caveat with colorful, joy full shopping @ Spencer's come at exorbitant cost for any thing you pick. To simply enjoy the Spencer's, follow this principle roam - rest - roam, rest assured...
